The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the commercial activities on projects, delivering the scope of the appointment and managing the assisting team with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-quality quantity surveying services to clients
  • Establishing client requirements for cost planning
  • Managing risk, value engineering and cost control measures
  • Advising on procurement strategies
  • Preparing tender packages and contracts, including bills of quantities
  • Analysing tender appraisals and identifying risk areas
  • Ensuring projects remain within budget and on track financially
  • Preparing budget and progress reports, including cost value reconciliations
  • Identifying and responding to commercial risks and assessing cost variations
  • Issuing notices in accordance with the contract conditions
  • Advising on contractual issues and claims
  • Preparing and negotiating final accounts
  • Attending and leading project meetings
  • Keeping up to date with industry requirements and developments
  • Mentoring junior staff and contributing to internal training
  • Promoting the company and our services in the industry

The Candidate

  • Educated to a degree level in Quantity Surveying
  • 6+ years Quantity Surveying experience
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong numerical and data analysis skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills
  • Positive approach to client care and problem solving
  • Ability to work alongside Expert Witness and Advisory teams

  • Membership of the RICS or working towards membership
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts
  • Experience using CostX software
  • Experience in the rail and aviation sectors
